We have YFCs, other countries have their own
rural youth organisations. By linking up, NFYFC Homestay gives
members the opportunity to travel to other countries to be
a guest of their organisations. It is a safe and friendly
way to see a country, experience its culture, making new friends,
and learn about young farmers elsewhere.
The host organisation arranges for you to stay
with a series of members' families who will provide accommodation,
meals and an introduction to the local area. You will need
to be flexible and be prepared to take part in anything, whether
it is helping on the farm, going to meetings or events, or
giving a talk about YFC and life at home. |

This is for the more adventurous; it is a Homestay
experience in a developing country. You can stay with farming
families and sample agricultural life of a very different
sort. The welcome will be warm and the trip will give you
an insight into a way of life and its problems that are very
different to our own. |

If you are good with animals and children and
have lots of energy why not aply for the NFYFC educational
Exchange to Nansai in Zambia. For one term you can join the
small team that educates 24 children from farming, missionary
and shopkeeping backgrounds. The children are not native Zambians,
but European, South African and American. The school is based
on a farm and you will help supervise the junior class (5-9
years). The children are encouraged to be very active and
you will get involved in horse riding, fishing, swimming,
game walks/drives and hunting.

If you have practical agricultural experience
and you are prepared to much in, why not apply to work at
Limestone Downs? The farms is an intensive enterprise with
11,000 sheep and 1,000 beef cattle on its 3,000 acres. It
continuously explores new management techniques and works
closely with Massey University. It is located on the North
Island's west coast just south of Port Waikato. The C Alma
Baker Trust funds four NFYFC members each year to fly to New
Zealand and work on the farm for three months. |
